A July 4th to Remember

We were really looking forward to a relaxing 4th of July. Nothing to do, just relax, grill out some ribs, go see the fireworks show, and watch a movie before bed. Sounds like a great day right? Well, it should have been.
It started out great-we slept in, did a little shopping, started cooking out about 5. Rachel came over and we had a good dinner and then we started to head down to the fireworks show. I don't always lock the doors when we leave, especially if we are just going down to the park or something, but last night I grabbed the keys, locked the doors and we headed down to the park for the show. It was great and it lasted all of about 30 minutes. We picked up our stuff and were about to leave when I realized that my keys were missing. We started looking around for them and could not find them anywhere. Several of the neighbors brought out thier flashlights and started to help us look. We traced our way back to the house and still nothing. We couldn't get a locksmith to call us back. Finally after looking around for about two hours we were able to contact someone who had an extra key to our house and they came over and let us in. This still did not solve the problem of the missing keys though, especially since my one and only van key was on that key ring.
Camryn and I got up early this morning to go out and search again for the keys. still nothing. All I can think is that someone sitting near us accidentally grabbed my keys and left with them. I started calling locksmiths and the Ford Dealership etc. this morning to find out what to do to get a new key for my van. It turns out that my key contains a computerized chip that has to be programmed in order for it to start my van. I can't just get a regular key made. This means that instead of spending 25-35 dollars to get a new key I am going to spend about 175 dollars. Then to top it off the Ford company needs the van towed there and nobody wants to tow my vehicle on a Saturday morning. I could not find a towing company to tow the van until Monday morning. So now I have no vehicle for the next few days and i am going to spend a fortune to replace those keys.
So.....Frustrating!!!!

Oh, no!!! Then, I called you with bad news...I'm soooo sorry! Sounds wayyyy too much like all the fun we had in Atlanta.

Well, the 4th might not have been relaxing...but it WILL be memorable!
