Weekend Fun

We are looking forward to an awesome memorial day weekend. Dan and I went to hear a standup comedian Friday night and then went to Carrabbas we had so much fun! Saturday we went to Jordan's baseball game and the pool, it was such a nice relaxing day. Today we are going to Dan's church (Fellowship of the Hills) which I absolutely love, I mean I really look forward to going there every week, then it's back to clean house and Dan is going to grill some stuff for tomorrow.

Tomorrow we are having some family over for a cookout and pool party!

Then I go back to school Tuesday for exam week and I am DONE!

It is such a relief to be done teaching for a while!

We also have volleyball tryouts on Tuesday, I pretty much already know who is on the teams, but it is just a formality.

Egg Drop

Today my science classes did an egg drop project.
The goal was to design a package for a raw egg that when dropped off the top of the building would not crack!
The kids had a blast and came up with some really cool ideas.
One kid made several peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches and wrapped them around his egg.
The eggs had to last through a total of three "drops"
*the first drop was just that. I held the package out over the edge of the building and dropped it.
*the second drop was actually a throw. I threw the package as far as I could into the parking lot.
*the third drop was really a slam. I threw it down as hard as I could.
We had a total of about 5 out of 28 eggs make it through all three drops.
Don't know if I'll do this project again though unless I can convince someone else to go up on the roof!

Volleyball, Kids, Other Random Stuff

We were in the car the other day and Dan drove fast over a little hill. Payton from the back seat started giggling.

Daddy! That "tickled my tomach"

We are trying to sign Jordan up for tackle football with pop warner. He is so excited. Unfortunately we missed the deadline and I am trying to see what we can do. They don't start until August, so I think they should still be able to get him in.

Camryn and I got into an argument this morning because she wanted to wear a skirt that was entirely to small for her!

I won that argument-this time anyway!

My two brothers went to play basketball at a local gym last night. It costs $7 for non members and you have to present I.D.

Tommy forgot his I.D. and the woman at the desk would not let them in. Dan was there with them and said I think their dad knows the owner. The lady finally agreed to go get the owner and when he found out who they were he offered to let them visit the gym as his guests for free anytime they wanted to! He and my dad played football together at FSU.

I was pretty impressed!

I am trying to come up with some good fundraiser ideas for my volleyball team. We have two big tournaments at our gym this year and we need a new net system, and I would like for us to get some cool team gear this year.

Any good ideas? I am not a big carwash fan!

Hangin' Out at Fun Station!

Hurricane Katrina

Someone sent me these pictures of Hurricane Katrina right before it hit. I knew it was a terrible storm, but looking at these pictures helps to capture the enormity of it.

How do you stop the accidents?

Payton has been potty trained for about 1 year now, but she is still occasionally having accidents. Not every day but about every two weeks. And the bad part about it is she doesn't just have one accident, she will have three in one day!

I have tried rewards, punishments---everything!

I think she is just being lazy. She gets so preoccupied with whatever else is going on that she doesn't want to stop to go to the bathroom until it is too late.

Here is a picture of her in the gym with some of my volleyball players the other day. She had wet her pants three times and we didn't have any more clean clothes for her to wear, so she is wearing PE clothes from one of the smaller middle school girls and we had to wrap the draw string around her neck to keep the pants up.

Men Are Like

11. Men are like Snowstorms . You never know when they're coming, how many inches you'll get or how long it will last.

Fun to look at, but not very bright.

Camryn's First Crush

My daughter Camryn is all girl. She is a priss, she is always concerned about her clothes, her hair, her shoes, etc... She drives me crazy! :)

Well now she has developed her first crush. This boy in my tenth grade Biology class Austin is the love of her life right now.

It all started when the school had a carnival and I had to work after school care so Austin and a few other kids volunteered to take my kids around so that they did not miss out on all the fun!

Austin took Camryn around and played with her, bought her ice cream, won her some goldfish, helped her make some necklaces and now she is awestruck!

All she can talk about is Austin.

Where is he?

When are we gonna see Austin again?

Austin is so nice isn't he mama.

I really like Austin.

Austin played with me today on the playground.

And she goes on and on and on and on!!!!

Anyway it is pretty cute and I thought I would blog about it so she can read it later!

How Crazy is This?

I have been going to a particular tanning salon for the past 4-5 weeks. I just paid for another month, but I only go about once a week. I went on Monday, and as I pulled into the parking lot I thought it was odd that there was a budget truck in front of the building. As I got closer I noticed that there were signs on the door saying that the place was closed. I walked up to the door and noticed that the building was almost entirely empty. I saw a man walking around on the inside who I recognized as one of the managers and motioned for him to come to the door. I asked him what was going on and he said that they had gotten a call from their corporate store on Friday and were being shut down permanently. They are the only store from this company in Tallahassee so there is nowhere to transfer my membership to. I asked about a refund and he said he would contact his manager and see what they could do!
